It is not surprising to hear that some people do not want to grow up just because they do not want to take responsibilities associated with the next stage of life ahead of them. Subconsciously, people shy away from advancement simply because they feel unprepared to take up the responsibilities ahead of them.
Let us take an example: Modric is a 30-year-old man who wants to build a restaurant business. However, deep within, he is scared of signing legal documents required to erect a building, having to deal with employees, being judged by the outcome of his business etc. Modric remains without a business because unknown to him, his fears are stopping him from taking the next step towards growth.
Obviously, to start something new means you will have more responsibilities in line with the new startup. What Modric does not realize is that the next stage also provides one with the required tools to sustain that stage. What this means is that if Modric should begin his restaurant business without considering his fears, he would eventually see himself doing all the things he once feared with ease almost automatically. The load of tasks that present themselves is an illusion and you only discover this by doing what you can.
Imagine for a moment what would happen if you had an accident and remained in a coma for one month. You may be concerned about projects you have at hand, people you have to check up on or take care of, places you need to visit and so on. However, if you remained in an unconscious state for a full month, all these automatically come to a halt and by and large, nothing serious gets ruined by your absence.
This means that all the tasks you are thinking about right now can wait. Why not take things easy and do what you can. This is not to encourage being lazy but to discourage the dangerous and unnecessary conception of tasks ahead of us as humongous. We should be wise in our activities because most people keep on thinking of the many tasks ahead and end up completing none. It is better to conceive them as illusions and carefully take care of them one after the other.
Happy New Month of March, 2022.
