I just hope the title above portrays what I have in mind about the need sometimes to balance the act of receiving and giving. It appears that in different spheres of life, people could be majorly grouped either as givers or receivers.
We can consider the givers as those who spend most of their energy and resources on others in the act of giving and the receivers are those who spend most of their energy receiving help, information and gifts from others.
In his book “Give and Take,” Adam Grant uses the terms “givers” and “takers” to refer to these two groups. He goes on to talk about a third group “matchers” as those who balance the acts of giving and receiving.
It is usually the case that each person is so engrossed in his act of either giving or receiving that he does not know what it feels like to do the opposite side. It is about this third group, the matchers, who balance giving and taking that this article tries to emphasize.
A recent experience made me decide to write on this topic. I received a lot of things from people in a short period and I could literally feel the love the gifts carried. The feeling was alien and experiencing it opened up a new perspective which hitherto had been hidden from me. I can just say that, as a giver, when you allow yourself to also receive, you will understand better what people feel when they tell you “thank you” after receiving from you.
On the other hand, as a receiver, when you allow yourself to give to others, you get the opportunity to experience the other kind of joy which comes from giving. I am sure that for a receiver, trying out the act of giving will open up new perspectives too and these may be unique to you.
As a content creator, you can take some time off from creating content and consume some of the content from other creators. As a consumer of content, you can shut off your sources for a while and create content for others to consume. You will discover the inner craving for the other side which you have neglected all along.
I would have loved to tell you about my discoveries after blocking social media for a while, however, I do not intend to make a very long post. Just know that shutting off some or all social media can make you all the more in control and more productive. Thank me later and do not forget to achieve more in this new month.
Comment your experiences on giving and receiving and what you think about the subject.
Happy New Month of June

Greetings! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website?
I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve had problems
with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform.
I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
